Got a packet bigger than ‘max_allowed_packet’ bytes – MySQL ERROR 1153

Today during an import, i received the following message from MySQL:

ERROR 1153 (08S01) at line 20: Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes

The fix is just to increase 2 variables: net_buffer_length, max_allowed_packet. You can do by running the following commands:

> mysql -uroot -p

mysql> set global net_buffer_length=1000000;
mysql> set global max_allowed_packet=1000000000;
